Technique: Warp ikat

Size: 92 x 173 cm (3' 0" x 5' 8")   LW: 1.88
Design: Nine bands with boda (Savu flower) and kekemahaba (zigzag) motifs in ecru and morinda red on indigo background.
Comment: Fine example of Savu style selimut with relatively rare nine band design (most have only seven bands). Morinda red remarkably strong. Good weaving, well preserved.
Background: Chapters on Savu Group and Raijua.

Sources: Very similar to much smaller cloth (half the size) in Yoshimoto, Ikat, Fig. 150.
