Men's shawls of this grade are not often encountered outside Savu. | Background: | Additional information in chapters on Savu Group and Raijua. | Published: | Ikat Textiles of the Indonesian Archipelago, 2018.
| Sources: | Nearly identical to early 20th C. selimut in Khan-Majlis, Woven Messages, Fig. 224. A particularly apt line from her caption reads: 'The hands-on cotton threads, the very clear ikat design and the warm shades of morinda red of the fine warp stripes point to an older textile.' Also nearly identical to late 19th C. selimut in her Indonesische Textilien, Fig. 438; and to hi'i in Duggan, Woven Stories, P. 85, albeit with 17 rather than 15 baris motif utama, bands of main motif. | |
