Locale: Welai village, Maumere area.
Period: 1930s

Design: Large motifs probably inspired by jilamprang and small geometrical designs in pink on a background of well saturated, almost maroon morinda, and enlivened with dashes of pale indigo. Pinstripes stripes in white, green, orange and red commercial silk or cotton.
Size: 61.5 x 138.5 cm (24.2 x 54.5 in)
Weight: 760 g (446 g/m2)
Yarn: Cotton, ca. 99% hand-spun
Comment: Festive older Sikka sarong from Maumere area that shows use but is in very good condition. Clearly worn and washed multiple times (though washing such cloths if often put off a long time) but without any fraying. Hand spun enriched with a few accents in brightly coloured silk. Above average example of the type.
